Adult Literacy For Women Artisans
Asia Initiatives has partnered with SEWA (the Self-Employed Women’s Association) to promote economic empowerment and drive education initiatives by improving literacy for women weavers in Delhi.
Cascade Of Learning For Adolescent Girls In Lucknow
Through multiple Gender Resource Centers, equipped with libraries, classroom and low-cost computers, Udaan reaches adolescent young girls from underserved communities to empower them.
Empowering Embroidery Artisans
Women in Delhi earn SoCCs for a timely delivery of products weaved without mistakes, sending their children to school, and improved saving habits, which they then redeem for adult literacy classes, tutoring services, and important supplies.
Job Skills For Formerly Incarcerated Women
AI has partnered with Hour Working Women to provide advanced and beginner computer classes for women to prepare them for when they re-enter the workforce.
Nutrition Gardens
More than 1500 women have set up kitchen gardens where they grow vegetables to increase their families nutrition and achieve financial independence.
SoCCs For Advocacy
These programs have “been designed to equip girls with the skills and resources they need to thrive. When girls are strong, healthy, and educated, they change their communities and transform societies”
SoCCs For Bicycle Banks
Asia Initiatives, with support from the Women’s Rehabilitation Group in New Jersey, launched bicycle banks to address the lack of access to public transport.
Tribal Credit Cooperative
Programs in childcare, education, and community connectivity support the livelihoods of Katkari women, whilst utilising microcredit societies to improve financial opportunity.
SoCCs For Neighborhood Improvements
In 2015, we partnered with the Alice Visionary Foundation Project (AVFP) and WomenStrong International (WSI) to incentivize individuals in the Manyatta neighborhood of Kisumu to perform social services through the SoCCs program.
Women's Rural Health Development Program
In Haryana, India, Asia Initiatives has partnered up with Arpana Hospital to implement a rural development program. With our innovative SoCCs methodology, women will be given access to health care and participate in village sanitation.
Zuri Initiative, Economic Empowerment For Women
Asia Initiatives has partnered with Zuri to use their well- established and tested concept of social capital credits (SoCCs). This innovative model of economic and social development tackles poverty issues while promoting sustainable development of communities
PAST PROJECTS
Kadam Resource Center
In 2016 Asia Initiatives collaborated with the Center for Development in Ahmedabad, India, to implement sustainable changes in the areas of women’s self-help groups, safe institutional births, involvement of community leaders, healthcare workshops, and girls mentoring their peers.
SoCCs in Washington DC
In April 2016, WomenStrong International and Bread for the City, in partnership with Asia Initiatives, has launched a SoCCs project in Anacostia, Washington D.C., to help women improve their lives and their communities.
