SoCCs FOR SKILL-BASED LEARNING AND TRAINING

Our Skills on Wheels project will provide 2 years of hands-on vocational training for more than 120  students in underserved villages to help them launch a career. A school bus, outfitted with a lab and workshop equipment, will travel to schools in six villages to provide training and career development opportunities in its thrice-a-week sessions. In these sessions, students will learn skills related to engineering, energy and environment, food processing and agriculture.

Each student will earn SoCCs through our Cascade of Learning model by mentoring and tutoring two primary school students in Science and Math. This helps children stay and succeed in school in areas with an otherwise high dropout rate.

The students of grades 7th and 8th are from families of daily wage workers and small farmers, who would otherwise not have access to hands-on learning. These vocational experiences will help them work on their skills and give them ‘real-world’ exposure to academic concepts.
