PRAYAAS – SoCCs Education & Technology Initiative

PRAYAS is an initiative in Kotra, Udaipur, designed to nurture holistic development among students in underserved regions of India by connecting education with leadership and community action. The programme creates a dynamic ecosystem where primary-grade students (mentees) strengthen foundational literacy and numeracy (FLN), while middle-grade students (mentors) grow as leaders, educators, and changemakers.

At its core, PRAYAS blends academics with real-world application. Mentees receive structured, activity-based support in reading, writing, and arithmetic through peer learning, guided by trained student mentors. This improves learning outcomes and builds confidence and collaboration. Simultaneously, mentors participate in regular leadership and digital literacy sessions, developing essential skills such as communication, decision-making, and self-awareness.

The SoCCs (Social Capital Credits) system acts as a powerful motivator, rewarding students for both educational efforts and social contributions. Earned credits can be redeemed for further skill-building opportunities, creating a continuous cycle of learning and growth. With transparent tracking and regular recognition, PRAYAS fosters academic improvement, and confident, socially conscious young leaders.

A distinctive feature of PRAYAS is its strong emphasis on community engagement. Students actively contribute to local needs through initiatives like creating biodegradable bowls for community events, promoting sustainability while preserving cultural practices. These activities instill a sense of responsibility and belonging, making learning meaningful beyond the classroom.
