SoCCs FOR EDUCATION THROUGH COMMUNITY CHANGEMAKERS
Asia Initiatives in collaboration with Mera Gaon Meri Duniya is transforming education in the community through building platforms for youth to connect with their society and themselves. Focusing on the districts of Ujjain, India, the SPARSH project develops local children to become strong youth leaders by providing age-appropriate learning outcomes for primary school children and creating peer-learning spaces for children in villages. Youth leaders earn SoCCs by teaching children of 3rd, 4th, and 5th-grade levels from Government Schools in their respective villages for 1.5 hours. Youth leaders also organize community visits where they engage with their students’ parents about their child’s education, monitoring their child’s behavior, and using positive narration with them to help them achieve their goals. SoCCs are redeemed for workshops on ART based learning, community engagement, and on bringing real-world connections into the classrooms.
The Cofounders of Mera Gaon Meri Duniya, Vasudha Kapoor and Nageshwar Panchal, are also fellows of Plustrust anchors that provide pre-incubation support to young people through the Young Change Makers Fellowship in inclusive education and animal welfare. AI is supporting Plustrust to achieve their targets to inspire and nurture changemakers by supporting micro- incubation of social ventures with special focus on women.
