INITIATIVES
Micro Credits & Livelihood
Located in the diverse and vibrant district of Mayurbhanj, Odisha, the project "Ensuring Sustainable Livelihoods of Women Farmers through Improved Goat Rearing and Climate Smart Agriculture" is set against a backdrop of rich forests, tribal culture, and agricultural reliance. This initiative targets 500 vulnerable households across four Gram Panchayats in the Bangiriposhi Block, aiming to revolutionize their livelihoods through a blend of goat rearing, climate-smart agriculture, and a suite of community empowerment practices. With objectives centered on enhancing income by 50%, promoting water conservation, and boosting health and nutritional awareness, the project adopts a holistic approach to rural development.
Key deliverables include elevating incomes through improved livestock practices, introducing climate-resilient crop cultivation, and fostering water conservation techniques. A significant focus is placed on empowering adolescent girls with knowledge on menstrual hygiene, reproductive health, and nutrition, alongside promoting digital financial literacy among women farmers. The initiative also seeks to strengthen the operational capacity of a local Farmers Producer Company (FPO), ensuring it can provide essential services to its members efficiently.
Operational plans are rooted in leveraging the extensive experience of NYDHEE, with a dedicated team working closely with community members, local governments, and partners to execute project activities effectively. Success will be measured through tangible outcomes such as increased household incomes, adoption of sustainable farming practices, improved health and nutrition statuses, and enhanced water conservation efforts.
